One of the hardest things to deal with when your intermittent fasting can be the questions and opinions from people around you, and trying to fit it in around your family and friends who probably won’t understand why you’re doing it.

The best way to deal with it is to give them a quick explanation of what it is and some of the the evidence behind it. Ask them to be supportive of you while you’re fasting and that it’s a lifestyle choice that you have already decided to make.

Otherwise try to plan your fast during times that are less likely to get in the way of your day to day life and be noticed the people aroud you. That way you will have less people asking questions!

That’s why most people who use intermittent fasting generally fast during the day so that they can have their evening meal with their family or friends.

The most popular time for 24 hour fasts is from after dinner to dinner time the next day, and most people who choose ‘eating window’ fasts plan it so their 6 or 8 hour window allows them to have lunch and dinner with their family as well.

If you prefer not to tell people that you’re fasting just tell them that you’re not hungry and most people won’t even notice.

Isn’t skipping a meal bad for you?

No, it’s actually the opposite. It’s good for you and has a lot of health benefits. We all eat plenty of food on a daily basis so going a day (or even less) without food is not a big deal at all. People have been fasting for centuries for both health and religious reasons.


Won’t it slow your metabolism?

No despite what you might think there’s a lot of evidence showing that short fasts (even fasts up to 72 hours!) don’t slow your metabolism at all. That’s why it’s such a good way to lose and maintain your weight. You should try it yourself.


Is intermittent fasting a real thing ?

Yes it’s quite a well-known method used by tens of thousands of people worldwide. You should look it up online at www.ifasters.com, Wikipedia or any of the other websites on the topic. You’ll be able to find a lot of information about that will explain why its actually a more normal way of eating compared to the way most of us eat.


Are you just on a crash diet?

No crash diets are terrible for your metabolism and never work. What I’m doing is called intermittent fasting and there is no diet involved at all. In fact I’m never going to go on a diet ever again and intermittent fasting means I never have to.
