Recipes for Zero and Low Calorie Beverages

If you like the idea of drinking home made soda when your fasting here are a few recipes that you can make  with just a few ingredients.

They’re easy to do and if you use filtered tap water can save a lot of money!


Here are some recipes for natural ginger ale, lemon and orange.
You’ll need:

  • 1 large jug
  • Stevia herbal sweetener, fresh from the plant or in powder form (or liquid if you prefer)
  • 1 large bottle of sparkling or carbonated water (or if you have a soda stream, machine just use tap or filtered water and slightly carbonate)
  • Your choice of herbs for desired flavor

For Ginger Ale:
Add ground ginger

For Root Beer:
Ground cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, and anise.


Step 1:

Add a light sprinkling of herbs to your empty jug so that it’s just covering the bottom.

Step 2 :

Add 4 scoops of stevia sweetener. Use one leaf or half a teaspoon of granulated stevia per serving (8-12 ounces).

Step 3:

Add the carbonated water.

Step 4:

Add the flavour

You can add a few drops of lemon or for orange flavour use orange zest in place of or as well as the herbs.

For mint flavor, use fresh mint. You can also mix ginger with nutmeg.

Have fun experimenting with different the natural herb flavored drinks.

And remember these flavors can also work well in your coffee or tea too!
