If you like the idea of drinking home made soda when your fasting here are a few recipes that you can make  with just a few ingredients. They’re easy to do and if you use filtered tap water can save a lot of money!   Here are some recipes for natural ginger ale, lemon and orange. Try adding slices of lemons, limes, oranges and other fruits like strawberries, kiwis and even blueberries which can add a subtle flavor to water without adding calories. Research shows that that drinking tea at least three times a day is just as beneficial (if not more beneficial) for your health as drinking water. The general consensus for years has been that drinking too much tea dehydrates our body because of the caffeine content, but in actual fact a study in the European Journal of Clinical Nutrition showed that the caffeine levels are not enough to counter the volume of water that we drink with tea. It found that not only does tea replenish our fluid stores the same way that water does but it also has the added heath antioxidant benefits from the flavonoids that can help prevent the risk of heart disease and some cancers. Recipes for Iced Tea (Calorie Free)

Iced tea with Lemon Ingredients 3 tea bags (good quality Black Tea, Orange Pekoe or try a Green Tea or any other of your favourite teas) 4 cups of water 3-4 units of Stevia powder (or to taste) Half a lemon thinly sliced     Instructions Bring water to a boil in a saucepan. Once boiling remove from heat and add the tea bags. Cover for 5 minutes. Remove the tea bags and pour the tea into a heat-proof glass jug. While tea is still hot, add the Stevia and stir. Add the slices of lemon slices and place the jug in the refrigerator. Refrigerate until cool and then serve over ice. This recipe makes a small batch, so if you really like iced tea, I recommend doubling the recipe. You can always make these recipes ahead of time and refrigerate for up to 1 week.
